Jeff Alves PT, OCS, CSCS
Jeff is a 1990 summa cum laude graduate from the Physical Therapy Program at Fresno State University. A Sacramento native, Jeff is co-owner of Alves & Martinez Physical Therapy, where he focuses on orthopedic and sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation and athletic performance. Jeff is a well-established member of the Sacramento physical therapy community.
Prior to establishing the Alves & Martinez clinic in May 2001, Jeff opened Alves Physical Therapy in May 2000. He also worked for Kaiser Permanente in South Sacramento as a Clinician, and at McCarthy Physical Therapy in Roseville. Jeff is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and certified in Functional Movement Screening.
In addition, he has completed several long-term Orthopedic Manual Therapy programs and has been published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Jeff serves as a consultant to area high school athletic programs and works with local high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. He is also a voluntary faculty member at the University of Southern California division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy DPT Program.
Jeff resides in Elk Grove with his wife and two children and enjoys spending time with his family, music and outdoor activities. He has competed in several triathlons & running events. He has qualified for the Boston Marathon and completed Ironman Arizona 2013 in 11:01.53!
William Martinez PT, OCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS
Co-owner of Alves & Martinez Physical Therapy, William Martinez (Billy) specializes in orthopedic manual therapy and is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School Programs in Physical Therapy. Before opening Alves & Martinez in 2001, Billy managed clinics and practiced in a variety of orthopedic and musculoskeletal settings across the US including Phoenix, Massachusetts and Seattle.
He has 25 years’ experience in developing programs for the training and rehabilitation of professional, collegiate and amateur athletes and is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Billy has taught in the Clinical Orthopedics section in the physical therapy program at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts and has completed long-term programs in orthopedic manual therapy (OMT) in Sacramento, Folsom and San Francisco Bay area. A certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT), Billy expanded his treatment specialty to include Pilates-based rehabilitation through Polestar Pilates. Billy is also trained (certification pending) in Functional Movement Assessment (FMS) screening, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and corrective exercises.
Billy offers his expertise and treatment to California State University, Sacramento Rugby and works with area cyclists, runners and triathletes. He enjoys time with his wife and son and is active in coaching youth sports in the area.
Eve Martinez PT
A 1993 graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Physical Therapy Program, Eve is a Senior Physical Therapist at Alves & Martinez Physical Therapy where she specializes in treating performance and sports related injuries.
Eve’s experience treating performance and dance related injuries includes providing the physical therapy care for the Sacramento Ballet Company from 2005 until 2009 (providing pre-season health screenings for company members as well as physical therapy care during the performance season) and providing physical therapy care for some of the traveling companies contracted for the Sacramento Broadway series (Little House on the Prairie, A Chorus Line, Memphis.) Eve has also worked with individual performers from Music Circus as well as with local Sacramento dance studios, developing health and fitness education programs for dancers and participants. Prior to joining Alves & Martinez, Eve worked for Kaiser Permanente in South Sacramento. She began her physical therapy career as a traveling PT, working in hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation centers around the country. Eve has participated in multiple long-term continuing education programs including The Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in Burlington, MA; Folsom Physical Therapy Orthopedic Manual Therapy Program; and The Australian Approach to Treatment of the Spine in Roseville, CA. In 2009 she completed a Pilates Instructor training program through Balanced Body University and is certified through the Pilates Method Alliance

Ursula Bergmooser PT
Ursula is a 2014 graduate from the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at University of the Pacific and a 2010 graduate from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology.
While at Cal Poly, Ursula earned her All-American cross-country athlete status in 2006 while competing at the Junior Olympics and ran division 1 track and cross-country. Ursula enjoys working with athletes returning to their sports and also has experience with acute care, geriatrics, amputees, and interned at UC Davis Spine Center. She will also be taking the Folsom Physical Therapy long-term orthopedic manual therapy program in 2016. In her free time, Ursula enjoys being a newlywed, amateur chef, and outdoor enthusiast with her Siberian husky, Hunter.
Matt Rieger MA, BA, CSCS, NSCA-CPT
Matt is a 2015 graduate of the Masters of Coaching and Athletic Administration Program at Concordia University Irvine and a 2012 Graduate of the Sports Medicine Program at University of the Pacific. Matt is in charge of the Athletic Performance Program at Alves and Martinez Physical Therapy where he designs and implements sport specific training programs for local athletes of all levels.
Prior to working with Alves and Martinez Physical Therapy and Athletic Performance Matt completed an intensive internship with UCLA Athletic Performance. Matt worked with the 2015 UCLA Pac-12 Champion Baseball team as well as the Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams’ and Track and field teams. Matt also worked with a variety of other Olympic Sport teams while at UCLA. Matt has worked with and designed programs for professional athletes, Division 1 College athletes as well as youth athletes.
Matt currently resides in Lodi with his wife Arielle and their dog Royal. He enjoys spending time with family and is an avid fan of sports.
Beverlee Cvitanov MPT
Beverlee is a 2014 graduate of Andrew Taylor Still University of Health Sciences Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program. She is an alumnus of the University of San Francisco (USF), where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise and Sports Science cum laude.
Beverlee is a Sacramento native and has worked in physical therapy settings in California, Oklahoma and Arizona. She has experience ranging in a variety of settings including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient, geriatrics, and wound care. She has a competitive background in golf and was a full scholarship athlete and MVP at USF. She has competed in three U.S. Women’s Amateur’s, one U.S. Girls Amateur, and has one won numerous tournaments including the California Girls and Women’s State Fair, and Sacramento City Championships. Beverlee enjoys yoga, hiking, baking, and reading in her free time.
Julie began her Pilates career in New Hampshire in 2010. A lifelong horseback rider, she (and her horse) quickly noticed the unique benefits of a regular Pilates practice: improved posture, increased strength and flexibility, better proprioception. Soon she found herself driving to New York regularly to study with Linda Farrell of LindaFit Pilates. After receiving her mat certification, she continued her training in New York at the Kane School of Core Integration.
Julie began her Pilates career in New Hampshire in 2010. A lifelong horseback rider, she (and her horse) quickly noticed the unique benefits of a regular Pilates practice: improved posture, increased strength and flexibility, better proprioception. Soon she found herself driving to New York regularly to study with Linda Farrell of LindaFit Pilates. After receiving her mat certification, she continued her training in New York at the Kane School of Core Integration. In 2013, Julie moved to Sacramento and continued her equipment training with Balanced Body. Julie believes that being a good teacher means being a good student. Her ongoing love of learning has taken her to Boston for workshops with Eric Franklin, founder of The Franklin Method; The Pilates Center in Boulder Colorado; and to conferences around the country to learn from master teachers at various workshops.
Karma Sage-Johnson PT, DPT, SCS, NASM-PES
Karma Sage-Johnson received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University and is a Board Certified Sports Specialist. In addition, she is a Credentialed Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has completed the Scott Mat Pilates Training. She also serves as a Clinical Content Expert for the Sports Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Karma’s past experiences have emphasized sports and orthopedic rehabilitation of high school, collegiate and professional athletes. Karma’s areas of interest and expertise include bio-mechanical and movement/sports assessment with an emphasis on exercise progression for optimal rehabilitation results.
When she is not working, Karma enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons at the beach/lake and watching football and basketball.
